Format

The format of this course is quite different from other Online Training Systems courses and can be learned by viewing the Quick Start Tutorial on the first page of each content lesson. The tutorial is not required, but highly recommended.

OSHA Policies

OSHA's policy limits all OSHA Outreach Training (classroom and online) to a maximum of 7.5 hours of training per day in all OSHA 10 and 30 Hour courses.

OSHA has also issued a new policy of Program Jurisdiction Restrictions. Outreach Training Programs are now limited to OSHA jurisdiction only. Student course completion cards can only be issued to students within U.S. jurisdiction (the 50 States and certain U.S. Territories).

180 Days To Complete

Students have 180 days to complete the training from the time they enroll in the course. When a course EXPIRES, the student will no longer have access to the course and any course progress will be lost. There can be no extensions for the OSHA Outreach titles.

Free Reset Eligibility

If a student fails an OSHA 10 or 30 hour online quiz or the final exam, we allow a single free reset for all learners.

Eligibility for a free reset is granted if the student fails either a quiz or the final exam, but not both. The course is locked when a student fails a section and will not allow them to continue with the course. If the student fails any section and has not used their one free reset, please contact our customer service team and we will reset the course.

If a student is unable to complete their course due to either the OSHA 6-month regulation or the 1-year access period, no-reset or additional free access will be granted.

Reset Consequences

If a free reset is issued, the student's entire progress historically will be lost. The student will be required to restart the course from the very beginning.

Advance Online Solutions/360 Training OSHA 10 and 30-Hour Online Course Refunds

1. Refund requests must be submitted within 72 hours of the course launch. A refund will be processed if:
   • The learner has not attempted any portion of a test or exam.
   • The learner has not requested or received a certificate of completion.
   • The learner has completed less than 50% of the purchased course.
   • The learner has not been notified of the shipment of training materials or merchandise.
2. If the course has not been launched, our standard 30-day refund policy applies.

Learning Outcomes

After taking this course, you will be able to:

• Explain the importance of OSHA in providing a safe and healthful workplace to workers covered by OSHA;
• Identify struck-by and caught-in or caught-between hazards associated with serious construction-related injuries;
• Identify safe work practices around electricity, including understanding electrical terms, basic electrical safety principles, and regulations which pertain to electrical safety;
• Understand the dangers involved in excavations and how to take responsibility and work safely around trenches and excavations;
• Know types of fall hazards and how to prevent falls in your work environment by using appropriate fall protection;
• Identify the crane safety requirements for the construction industry, and explain how to avoid accidents and identify hazards when working on or around cranes;
• Understand ladder hazards and ladder-related injuries and how to select, inspect, and maintain ladders;
• Properly use, maintain, store, and dispose of materials including safe operation of cranes, rigging, and mechanical equipment;
• Identify a confined space, its hazards, requirements for confined spaces as listed under the Permit-Required Confined Spaces Standard, and duties and responsibilities of confined space workers;
• Select a variety of PPE based on a workplace evaluation and types of hazards; and
• Recognize types of scaffolds and how to safely use them.

Exams

 

OSHA requires students to pass each section exam and the final exam with a minimum of a 70% score. If a student fails any exam three times, the course will be placed in failed status and the student will be informed of his or her option to retake the course either online or in the classroom.

Accreditation

 

This training is offered through an affiliation with AdvanceOnline Solutions, Inc., who is an OSHA-Authorized Online Outreach Training Provider for this course.

Because this course is regulated closely by OSHA and offered through this affiliation, there are differences in how it is delivered when compared to most of the other online courses we offer. .

Below are the minimum software and browser requirements for the OSHA 10 and 30 Hour Online courses. Even though users may meet the minimum requirements, we still recommend they update their software and browser, along with its plug-ins, to the latest released version. We have included a link to each of the appropriate software websites, where, if necessary, users can download the latest version of the programs they require. Also, we recommend all users have high-speed internet in order to have good access to our online courses.

The OSHA 10 and 30 hour courses utilize a differenet course player than other Online Training Systems courses — as a result the system requirements are different.

Applications and Plug-ins

The following free applications and plug-ins (also known as ActiveX Controls) are required¹.

¹An update of Flash Player in supported browsers is required in almost all cases. Multiple-user operating systems may require administrative permissions to install, update, and use the applications and plug-ins.

Internet Connection Speeds and Data Transfer Rates

For users with dial-up modems (56k or faster), Internet connection speeds are affected by the quality of telephone lines and the variable connection speeds of modems.

Internet traffic and the number of "hops" along the Internet your current session takes to reach the data servers can affect data transfer rates. Traffic can also occur on local networks, at Internet Service Providers, and at websites.

Mobile Version

We're excited to announce that this course is available in HTML 5, making it more compatible with the browser on your mobile device (e.g., smartphone or tablet).

This course requires only the most recent version of your mobile device's web browser.

Mobile Pros and Cons

Mobile versions of this sort of training are new, but below are some Pros and Cons that we have noticed during our extensive testing.

During our testing we noticed that tablets work much better than smartphones, simply due to their screen size. The newer the device, the better the result. We are also aware that the course will not work on the first generation iPad, nor older Android Tablets.

Our courses are set up to take a specific amount of time. Some students may get through the training more quickly, while others may actually take longer to complete their training. Remember, this training should be used as an intricate tool in the context of an overall training program; it can be combined with other training throughout the year in order to meet any hour requirements needed.

Students have 12 months to start their training from the time they enroll in an online course.

Q - Do I have to finish the course in one sitting?

No, our courses are designed so you can start and stop as needed, allowing you to break the training up over a longer period of time. Our system will keep track of your progress, enabling you to resume where you left off upon your next login. It is important that once you start a section, you complete that section or you will need to start that section over from the beginning upon your return.

Q - Can I take the course from more than one computer?

Yes, you can take the online portion by signing in with your username and password from any location and computer with high-speed internet access. However, each computer does need to meet our basic system requirements for viewing our online courses.

Q - Will I receive a certificate for this course?

Yes, once you have completed a course, you are able to download, save or print a certificate of completion from your student account. Certificates are created in a pdf format. Users must have the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader before attempting to download the completion certificate.
